BRUNSWICK — Rachel Moroney and Jen Machin each scored two goals as the Brunswick High School girls hockey team concluded a successful week with a 6-1 victory over St. Dom’s on Thursday at Sidney J. Watson Arena.
Machin (assisted by Eliza Brooks) and Gillian Ford (Sarah Thibeault) staked the 6- 1- 1 Dragons to a 2- 0 lead through a period.
Moroney upped the advantage to 4-0 in the first 1:44 of the second period, with Annie Kelly and Caroline Wild each earning an assist.
Kayla McLellan scored the lone goal for St. Dom’s (1-8) off an assist from Emily Poulin, but third- period goals by Machin (Brooks) and Mary Sasson (Alexa Rivers) completed the Brunswick win.
Erin Gay turned aside seven shots in the win, while Saints netminder Nicole Keene had 37 stops.
“It was a fun week of hockey, winning the holiday tournament and beating last year’s state champs in St. Dom’s,” said Brunswick coach Bill Bodwell, whose team is slated to host Yarmouth on Monday (7:30 p.m.) before playing a makeup contest at Edward Little on Wednesday.

The host Cougars jumped out to an 11- 5 lead after a quarter and continued to pull away for a Mountain Valley Conference victory at Dixfield.
Alyssa Wade paced 3-2 Dirigo with 15 points, while Miranda Shurtleff chipped in 13.
Lisbon, 2- 4 and slated to host Winthrop Thursday, was led by Briana Moore’s seven points, with Alexa Harmon chipping in six points and Jess Campbell five.

Undefeated Dirigo ( 6- 0) scored the first 20 points and cruised to an MVC victory at Dixfield over the 0- 6 Greyhounds.
“ They could give college teams some trouble,” said Lisbon coach Eric Hall, whose team will host Telstar on Tuesday at 7 p.m.
Cody St. Germaine led Dirigo with 19 points, and the Cougars were nine of 22 from the line.
Kyle Sheehan paced Lisbon with seven points, with Tucker Brannon adding five. The Greyhounds were four of eight at the charity stripe.
