Plowman excels

Emily Plowman earned academic honors for the fall trimester at Lawrence Academy in Groton, Massachusetts.

Plowman, a senior, is the daughter of Bonny and Steven Plowman of Gorham.

Winter help for seniors

With winter weather now gripping the area, Gorham-Westbrook Triad is sponsoring free pails of sand for senior citizens in both communities.

Gorham seniors needing sand for icy steps and walkways should contact Officer Ted Hatch of Gorham Police Department at 839-5581 ext: 279.

Westbrook seniors who need a bucket of sandshould contact Capt. Tom Roth or Officer Joel Loranger of Westbrook Police Department at 854-0644.

David Garthe of Gorham, co-chairman of Triad, said the group is seeking more volunteers to assist seniors with snow shoveling. Garthe can be reached at 839-5407.

Triad is a collaborative of seniors, law enforcement and community providers to promote safety for senior citizens.
