Police say a Mechanic Falls man is in jail and facing charges that he robbed an Auburn pharmacy on Christmas Day.
Auburn police responded to the Minot Avenue Rite-Aid around 3:45 p.m. Sunday after receiving a report that a man had given pharmacy staff a note demanding drugs. The man was given drugs and fled.
Witnesses provided a good description of the suspect and the vehicle he was driving. The suspect was stopped by police in Mechanic Falls a short time later.
Police said 47-year-old Jason Letourneau was arrested and charged with robbery. He is being held at the Androscoggin County jail.
All of the drugs stolen in the robbery were recovered.
OAKFIELD
Maine company to supply log homes to China project
A log-home manufacturing company in northern Maine has won a contract to build homes for a new real estate development in China.
Katahdin Cedar Log Homes in Oakfield will supply cedar log-home kits to a Chinese real estate development company for a new lakeside development in southwest China.
Company President David Gordon said he plans to ship a 10,000-square-foot reception center to China by the end of January that will be assembled on the shores of a lake in Chengdu.
Gordon said the Chinese developer plans to sell lakeside parcels to buyers who can then purchase the Maine-made cedar-log homes for the equivalent of $375,000.
Gordon told the Maine Public Broadcasting Network that the ready-to-assemble homes will be packed into crates and shipped to China, where they will be assembled.
