To the editor:

Bread for the World is a faith-based organization that advocates with the U.S. Congress to get legislation passed that we hope and pray will one day lead to an end to hunger and poverty in the world. We do this primarily by conducting letter-writing campaigns in our supporting churches.

Here in Maine, we have 30 churches that support our work. This is up from 19 last year.

This year we have sent to our congressional delegation 5,023 letters. Last year we sent 4,399.

We are proud of this increase and wish to thank everyone who helped. World hunger continues to decline, and we look forward to the day when it will have ended for ever.

We wish all of you “Happy Holidays.”
