The Bonny Eagle Middle School Climate Team recently hosted a kickoff event featuring Gina Otto, the author of “Cassandra’s Angel,” which is a book that helps children build self-esteem. The main character is bullied and told by other characters that she should conform.

The book was made into a musical and the acting troupe has been touring the East Coast. Bonny Eagle students saw a presentation of the book with Otto and Cassandra portrayed by Kayla Roy, an actress from Maine and daughter of middle school principal Michael Roy.

The production was performed at Bonny Eagle Middle School and Buxton Center Elementary School.

Christmas Eve services

The North Congregational Church of Buxton (Groveville) is hosting a Christmas Eve service at 7 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 24. The service includes Christmas carols, the lighting of the Christ candle and a Christmas meditation.

The Christmas Eve service at Living Waters Church, 197 Parker Farm Road (Route 112), Buxton, will start at 6 p.m. following a free turkey dinner at 5 p.m.
