2 to 4 p.m. in Bethel

During the Country Christmas in Bethel celebration, there will be free horse-drawn wagon rides in Bethel, leaving from the Bethel Common. Other festivities fill the town during the month-long celebration. For more information, go to www.bethelmaine.com.

Bird Walks

8 a.m. in Freeport

Geared toward birders of all skill levels, free guided walks are offered every Saturday morning at Freeport Wild Bird Supply. Walks meet at the store at 541 Route 1. Usually, walks involve a short car-pool trip to a local site of seasonal interest. Bring your binoculars, or borrow a pair of ours, and come out to see some birds and learn about their habits. Hike in the Park

2 p.m. in Freeport

Wolfe’s Neck Woods State Park offers nature programs year-round, every weekend. This week’s program focuses on needs and adaptations of winter birds. Meet at the benches at the end of the second parking lot. No reservations needed. Free with park admission, which is $1 for ages 5 to 11 and $3 for ages 12 to 64.
