BRUNSWICK — The Brunswick High School girls hockey team scored three goals in each period in overwhelming Cape Elizabeth/Waynflete 9-1 on Thursday at Sidney J. Watson Arena.
“They’re hitting on all cylinders, with dominant forechecking and great patience,” said Brunswick assistant coach Mark Wild, who stood in for head coach Bill Bodwell, who was missing due to a death in the family. “Bill has worked hard on forechecking and the lines working together. The second line of Sarah Thibeault, Gillian Ford and Kate Bernier can forecheck with anyone in the state.”
Annie Kelly and Rachel Moroney each picked up two goals and an assist, with Eliza Brooks adding a goal and three helpers. Suzannah Smith, Jen Machin, Ford and Ashley Hartford chipped in one goal each, while Smith added two assists, with one helper each coming from Thibeault, Mary Sasso, Caroline Wild and Grace Rabinowitz.
Madeline Ciraldo scored the lone goal for Cape Elizabeth/ Waynflete (2-3).
Brunswick is 5-1-1 and slated to visit Edward Little on Wednesday at 5 p.m.
