To the editor:

I send a big thank you to Tri- County Literacy Volunteers, their sponsors and the Maine Eastern Railroad for another successful Candy Cane Train.

Children of all ages, their parents, grandparents and friends all had a wonderful time. What a treat to see adults singing and laughing with their children, enjoying the moment to the fullest.

Most of the children of all ages knew all the songs, and were not hesitant to sing out.

Santa, the readers and the elves were all terrific and engaged the children easily.

The train engineer, conductors and Maine3Railers were an integral part of the atmosphere, and seemed to enjoy the trip as much as the children and adults. The train station staff provided free hot chocolate at the station, and the Maine3Railers displayed an exquisite model train setup at the station as well.

If you have children or grandchildren and have not yet tried the Candy Cane Train from Bath to Wiscasset, please remember next year to get your tickets early.

Alas, the Candy Cane Train is through for this year. There were many adults and children taking pictures, so I expect there will also be many pictures posted on the Candy Cane site on Facebook.
