BAILEY ISLAND — Kent G. Mockler, 61, of Rocky Shore Road passed away Wednesday, December 7, 2011 at Mid Coast Hospital in Brunswick after a brief battle with cancer.

He was born in Caribou on May 4, 1950, oldest son of Melbourne M. and Glennis A. ( Coffin) Mockler.

He graduated from Caribou High School in 1968 and attended Eastern Maine Vocational Technical Institute. After college, Kent became The Ringmaster, and then Bozo for the Bozo television show at channel 7 In Bangor. He followed his acting stint behind the scenes first as a projectionist, then as a movie theater manager for three cinemas in the Bangor area.

Thereafter, he owned and operated his own advertising agency (Ad-Mart) in Bangor before moving to New York City where he was employed for 28 years at Way West Tenants Corp. as a managing superintendent . In 1982 he met Sherri Duprey, the love of his life and on June 18, 2006 they married. They retired to Maine in October of 2009. He was a 25 year member of the Central Park Model Yacht Club, of New York City — a 100 year old model yacht club that promoted design, building, and the racing of scale model yachts. He also was a member of the Friendship

Sloop Society of Maine.

Kent enjoyed vintage automobiles, sailing, scuba diving, bonsai plant gardening, brewing beer, cooking, boat model building, and loving life especially at his oceanside home on Bailey Island.

He is survived by his wife, Sherri Duprey Mockler of Bailey Island, a stepson, Jason Duprey of New York City, a brother, Murray M. Mockler of Harpswell, a maternal aunt, Katherine Raymond of Orr’s Island, a niece, a nephew, and many cousins.

He was predeceased by step daughter, Tiffany L. Duprey- Murley and youngest brother, Lee B. Mockler.
