BRUNSWICK — Annie Kelly scored with 1:37 left in regulation to lift the Brunswick High School girls ice hockey team to a 2-1 win over Lewiston Monday at Sidney J. Watson Arena.

Kelly scored off a Rachel Moroney assist as the Dragons improved to 4-1-1 and are scheduled to host Cape Elizabeth on Thursday.

Mikaela Brown converted an Ashley Chase feed at 5:16 of the first period to lift the visiting Blue Devils into a 1-0 lead.

Seven minutes later, Eliza Brooks scored a powerplay goal, with Moroney and Kelly picking up assists.

Lewiston outshot Brunswick 28-27, with goaltender Paige Fontaine making 25 saves. Claire Mendes stopped 27 shots for Brunswick, now in first place in the East, just ahead of Greely.

“We made good decisions tonight,” said Brunswick coach Bill Bodwell. “We started slow, but battled to the end to earn a big win.”

LISBON GIRLS 22

In Mountain Valley Conference girls basketball action Monday in Lisbon Falls, Spruce Mountain outscored the Greyhounds 9-1 in the third period to improve to 2-0.

Alexi Deering and Nicole Hamblin led Spruce Mountain with seven points each.

Lisbon, now 0-2 and scheduled to host St. Dom’s on Friday, trailed 10-7, 22-14 and 31-15 at the quarter breaks.

Bailey Madore led the Greyhounds with seven points and Sarah Giraldo had five.

“We played well in the first half, but we didn’t play well in the second half,” said Lisbon coach Julie Wescott.

BOOTHBAY GIRLS 55

The host Seahawks held the Wolverines to eightfirst points and pulled away with an 18-2 third quarter scoring advantage in picking up an MVC win.

Megan Smith matched Wiscasset’s (0-2) scoring total with a game-high 18 points for the 2-0 Seahawks, while teammate Allison Crocker added 11 points and Zaza Andrews eight.

“Boothbay is stacked this year, smart, well-coached, and they communicate really well,” said Wiscasset coach Patrick Quinn, whose team is slated to visit Carrabec on Thursday at 7 p.m. “We played as hard as we could for as long as we could.”

Wiscasset trailed 10-3 after a quarter, 23-8 at the half and 41-10 after 24 minutes.

Briana Goud led Wiscasset with 10 points and pulled down eight rebounds, while Kayla Connors had a team-high 11 caroms.
