WOOLWICH
Slippery roadways, specifically Route 1 in Woolwich, keep the Sagadahoc County Sheriff ’s Department deputies busy this morning, dealing with a series of vehicle slide-offs, including a tractortrailer that jackknifed and closed Route 1 for about 45 minutes.
The first crash was reported at 4:28 a.m., when a vehicle slid off Route 1 near Nequasset Road. The driver sustained a minor injury, according to a sheriff ’s department spokesman.
Around 5:13 a.m., a second vehicle slid off Route 1 near BFC Marine.
About three minutes later, a tractor-trailer truck went off Route 1 between George Wright and Nequasset roads. The tractor-trailer incident forced deputies to stop traffic along that section of Route 1 for 45 minutes as workers pulled the truck back onto the highway, Chief Deputy Brett Strout said.
Minutes later, another vehicle slid off Route 1 north of Nequasset Road, resulting in no injuries. Another vehicle slide-off was reported about 18 minutes later.
