BOWDOIN

About two dozen voters attended a special town meeting Monday at the Bowdoin town office, where they voted down an account transfer but approved spending money to purchase generators for the town office and fire department buildings.

Voters chose Michael Feldman to serve as moderator, according to Carol Laverdiere, administrative secretary for the town.

Voters then rejected a request to authorize selectmen to transfer all funds remaining in the Revaluation account, with a balance of $57,757.47 as of Sept. 30, to the Reserve for Maintenance and Additions to Town Buildings account.

Laverdiere said the money has been sitting in the Revaluation account since the town completed a property reassessment around 2008.

With 27 voters in attendance, Laverdiere said there was some discussion about why the town wasn’t seeking to transfer the funds into the surplus account. So for the time being, the money will remain in the Revaluation account.

Voters did approve Article 3, agreeing to transfer up to $20,000 from the Reserve for Maintenance and Additions to Town Buildings account to purchase and set up generators for the town office and the fire department building, both which currently do not have generators.
