BATH
Bath police deployed a Taser to subdue a 25-year-old Bath man who allegedly threatened an officer following an early-morning brawl Thursday on Dike Road.
Jacob R. Walmer, 25, of 9 Dike Road, was charged with disorderly conduct following the incident.
Officers responded at 4:42 a.m. Thursday to reports of a family fight on Dike Road. They found two people outside arguing on the lawn, Bath Police Chief Mike Field said today.
As Bath Police Officer Ted Raedel approached the duo, “ Mr. Walmer made a comment that, ‘If you take another step, I’ll kill you,’” Field said.
“Mr. Walmer is described as a large man, and he reached behind his back,” Field said. “Obviously, that immediately concerned Officer Raedel, who deployed the Taser.”
Walmer fell to the ground and was handcuffed without incident, Field said.
Bath rescue responded to the scene to remove prongs from the Taser, but determined Walmer did not require treatment.
Walmer was released from the Bath police station on $ 500 unsecured bail, and scheduled to appear in West Bath district Court at 1 p.m. Jan. 3, 2012.
