The Steep Falls community Christmas tree lighting will be held at 6 p.m. Sunday at the community park.

There will be a visit from Santa and Mrs. Clause, along with music, hot chocolate and cookies.

Crafting, animal fun

The Animal Welfare Society is holding an event Wednesday to give parents time to finish last-minute shopping before Thanksgiving.

The event, held from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., will give kids an opportunity to spend the day with the animals and make crafts. There will be pizza for lunch. The kids will be supervised by Lona Anges, the Animal Welfare Society’s humane educator. The cost is $25. Space is limited.

OLD ORCHARD BEACH

Thanksgiving day dinner

Old Orchard Beach United Methodist Church is holding its 7th annual Thanksgiving Day Dinner from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Thursday at the church on Washington Avenue.

The meal is free. The church is also offering to deliver meals to residents living in the Old Orchard Beach area.

Volunteers will be on hand to pick up residents in Old Orchard Beach, Saco or Biddeford and drive them to and from the church.

There are no income requirements. The meal and delivery service are free of charge.
