Greg Smith, who works with the forestry division of Portland’s Public Services Department, uses a boom truck Monday to put lights for the coming holiday season in the trees around Monument Square. Smith said it takes him and his co-workers, Jay Ash-Cuthbert and Mike Grant, shown in lower photo, about two weeks to string all of the lights.
