were injured in hunting-related shooting incidents Friday

afternoon.

Mattson, 60, of Portsmouth, N.H., was shot in the stomach at around

2:30 p.m. by Travis Wood, 29, of Windham. Mattson had been target

practicing in the woods off Quaker Ridge Road, on the north end of

Thomas Pond in Casco. He was about 300 yards from a logging road.

Wood was hunting in the area.

transported by LifeFlight to Central Maine Medical Center in

Lewiston and is listed in critical condition.

In the second incident, Steve Hutter, 26, of Hebron, was shot in

the lower leg by Linton Thompson, 47, of Oxford, while both were

hunting near Thompson’s property at 316 Allen Road in Oxford. After

shooting and wounding a deer in a field near the property, Hutter

and Thompson began tracking the wounded deer when Thompson shot

Hutter in the lower leg. It was a single gun shot wound, and as of

8:15 p.m. Friday Hutter was in surgery at Central Maine Medical

Center in Lewiston.

Investigations into both shooting incidents are ongoing; no

summonses or arrests have been made.
