Project Graduation launching plans

The Gorham Project Graduation Committee will meet at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 15, in the multi-purpose room at Gorham Recreation Department at the municipal center.

Darcy Bourgault, communications chairwoman, said parents of seniors are encouraged to attend. Bourgault said fundraising and event planning would be discussed in the meeting.

The following meeting will be on Tuesday, Dec. 13, at the same time and place.

Woman’s club to meet

Gorham Woman’s Club will meet on Thursday, Nov. 10, at 12:30 p.m. in Fellowship Hall at First Parish Congregational Church, 1 Church St.

Following refreshments, the speaker will be GFWC-New England regional president Cathy White.

Nancy Kenty is president-of-the-month.

The club is open to women wishing to become an active volunteer in community betterment. Guests are always welcome to attend meetings.

Marketing GBE topic

Gorham Business Exchange will meet 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 16, at Gorham Savings Bank, 10 Wentworth Drive.

Rich Brooks of Flyte Media will present “Web Marketing for Small Businesses and Entrepreneurs.”

In this web marketing seminar, participants will learn how to use search engine optimization, email marketing, blogging and social media to increase online visibility, drive qualified prospects to websites and convert them into customers.

Admission is $15 for exchange members and guests; $25, non-members. Everyone is welcome.

Russell Scholars alum luncheon

The University of Southern Maine’s Russell Scholars Program will hold its first alumni homecoming luncheon at 12 p.m., on Saturday, Nov. 5, on the Gorham campus.

Those attending will convene over coffee in Woodward Hall, followed by a buffet luncheon in the faculty dining room at the Brooks Student Center.

The Russell Scholars Program is the university’s first residential academic learning community. It was founded in 1996 to provide a community environment supporting academic success and student engagement for undergraduates from all majors. It has attained national recognition for its innovative curriculum and high student retention rate.

Russell Scholars alumni interested in attending should RSVP to Steve Romanoff, program director and professor of Russell Scholars Program, at 780-5751 or by email at romanoff@usm.maine.edu.

U.S. taxpayer debt

The Bureau of Public Debt reported on Oct. 27 that the U.S. public debt was $14,939,575,648,588.50.
