YARMOUTH — Belfast High rallied for two goals in the second half to beat York 2-1 for the Class B state field hockey championship Saturday.

The Lions tied it with 20:11 remaining on a goal by Brittany Mellor. Then, with 14:46 left, Brooklyn Curry scored off a penalty corner, taking a pass from Madison Cummings and putting the shot just inside the left post.

It was the fourth time Belfast (14-1-3) has beaten York (16-2) in a state championship game since 2004, all decided by one goal.

York took the lead in the first half when Shelby Spencer scored on a rebound.

The Wildcats have lost in the state championship game three years in a row.
