The Cape Elizabeth Capers advanced in the Western Class B football playoffs with a quarterfinal win over Greely, 21-9, at home Friday night. All of Cape’s touchdowns were scored by their oversized running back, senior Andrew Lavallee, who powered up the middle and into the end zone on runs of four, six and five yards.
Andrew Lavallee can be brought down, if you have all eleven
defenders on the field, but plan on giving up a few yards every
time. Here Lavallee bulls ahead for a four yard pickup and a Cape
first down.
A penalty for a Greely late hit added 10 more yards onto this
run by senior tri-captain Derek Roberts.
Junior quarterback Connor Maguire looks downfield for a receiver
as the defense closes in. Maguire got the pass off but it fell
incomplete.
Derek Roberts skips around the right end for a nice pickup in
the first half, but a penalty – on Cape this time – brought the
ball back.
Senior tri-captain Donald Clark picks up five yards for the a
Cape first down.

The Cape defense usually arrived at the Greely ball carrier as a
group. But Donald Clark got tossed into the air by Andrew Lavallee
when he led the defensive stop on fourth-and-goal from the
three-yard line.
