Community Fair news

Committee Chairman Michael Bardier reports the latest news within the following release.

This October is a particularly exciting month. It brings with it the turning of leaves, a new grandchild and the New Gloucester Community Fair, Saturday, Oct. 15; each with a special excitement of its own. Even though I could go on indefinitely about my new granddaughter, who’s just moments old, it’s the fair I should mention.

Filling one day with enough fun and excitement for thousands of people is very easy when you have a team of people as dedicated as the New Gloucester Fair Committee. This year there’s a petting zoo and pony rides, a special Kid’s Tent with a coloring and costume contest, a 19-category car show, a vintage 1861 baseball game, a visit from Slugger from the Portland Seadogs and Crusher from the Maine Red Claws, a snowmobile expo, antique tractors, more crafters and artisans than before, lots of great music, food, and of course, rides to include a bounce house and laser tag.

There will also be demonstrations from New Gloucester cheerleaders and the Dynamic Hapkido Defense Martial Arts and Self Defense team. Baxter the Library Cat will visit to support the bake-off, and for all you early birds, there will be a pancake breakfast from 8 to 10 a.m. Back again, the committee will be holding a silent auction and a bicycle raffle for kids. The Fair, as always, has free admission and free parking, but donations will be gratefully accepted.
