PORTLAND — A luncheon held in downtown Portland today raised about $70,000 to benefit breast cancer research in Maine.

The Maine Cancer Foundation’s 10th anniversary luncheon to cure breast cancer was held Wednesday at the Holiday Inn by the Bay.

All the funds raised Wednesday will remain in Maine to fund further research and potentially a cure for breast cancer.

Since its inception 10 years ago, the Annual Cure Breast Cancer for Maine luncheon has raised over $1 million.

The luncheon brought together breast cancer survivors as well as families of those who have died from the disease, according to Burgess Advertising and Marketing of Portland, one of the event’s organizers.
