BRUNSWICK — The U.S. Department of Labor has awarded a nearly $5 million grant to Coastal Counties Workforce to train 300 unemployed high-tech workers.
The grant is intended to help businesses at Brunswick Landing hire local workers instead of relying on foreign workers using visas, according to a press release.
The grant will be used to offset the costs of on-the-job training for many Brunswick Landing employers, including Kestrel Aviation, Resilient Communications, and Mölnlycke Health Care. It will also support costs for courses through Southern Maine Community College, Women, Work & Community, and Goodwill Industries of Maine.
