MADISON – Morse racked up 510 yards of offense on its way to a 56-20 win over Madison/Carrabec on Friday night in an Eastern Class B football game.

Morse quarterback Kevin McKellar completed 9 of 16 passes for 147 yards and a touchdown, and also ran for two TDs.

“We had great blocking from the offensive line,” McKellar said. “Our back were hitting the holes and we grabbed good momentum in the first quarter.”

Morse (2-3) jumped to a 22-0 lead in the first quarter, scoring on its first three possessions.

Liam McDonough capped a five-play, 58-yard drive with a 33-yard TD run. D’Vaughn Myers took control on the Shipbuilders’ next possession, putting together runs of 34 and 21 yards to make it 16-0 with 7:14 left in the first quarter. Myers rushed for 2-point conversions after the first two touchdowns.

After a defensive stand, the Shipbuilders took over at their 30. McKellar led an impressive drive that included a 36-yard pass to Wade Hunt, and ended with an 18-yard run around the right side by McKellar to push the score to 22-0.

“We are a pretty balanced team with a group of good athletes,” Morse Coach Jason Darling said. “We spread the ball around and had good results.”

Madison’s defense tightened in the second quarter, stopping a 13-play, 65-yard drive at the 15. The Bulldogs, however, could not find a sustained effort on offense and were forced to punt for the third time in the first half.

Morse marched 59 yards for a touchdown that featured a 21-yard run by McKellar and a 20-yard scamper by Hunt. McKellar put the finishing touches on the drive, hitting Keegan Drouin with an 18-yard pass down the left sideline to make it 28-0 at halftime.

Madison/Carrabec managed a pair of touchdowns in the third quarter. Stephen Cusson tossed a 10-yard pass to Kyle Williams with 4:16 left in the quarter, then scored on a 1-yard run with 35 seconds remaining.
