WINDHAM – The Windham football team (2-3) has overcome an 0-3 start to win two straight games, the latest coming Friday night with a solid 16-7 win over Portland (2-3) at home.
After being limited to just 12 offensive plays and three punts in the first half, the Eagles, behind new quarterback Todd Allen, overcame a 7-6 halftime deficit to rally for the win.
Windham got a big first-half play from Jordin Allen, who picked off Bulldog quarterback Jayvon Pitts-Young and took teh ball 62 yards for a touchdown to put Windham on top 6-0 after a failed extra point attempt.
Pitts-Young put the Bulldogs on top 7-6 with just 11 seconds left in the half with a short touchdown run.
But that was all for the Bulldogs, the Eagles shut down the Bulldog half in the second half and got a field goal from Josh Dugas and a 3-yard quarterback keeper from Allen to pull away for the win.
