STANDISH – Standish and Limington Fire-EMS personnel responded to a report of a canoe accident on the Saco River at Steep Falls Sunday afternoon at 5:30 p.m.

According to Standish Chief Brent Libby, responders found four subjects involved, two in the water and two out of the water. Firefighters trained in swift water rescue entered the river and the remaining two individuals were rescued from the water. The subjects had been in the water for approximately 45 minutes from the time of call. Once out of the water they were treated and released by Limington EMS.

There were no injuries to rescue personnel, Libby said. Mutual aid on the scene was provided by Sebago Fire Department.
