Sanford at South Portland
The Game: Sanford (2-0) at South Portland (1-1),
When: Friday, 7 p.m.
Last Week: Sanford beat Scarborough, 21-12; South Portland beat Thornton Academy, 20-16
Key Players: Sanford: Jon Schroder, Sr., RB/LB; Alex Shain, Jr., RB/LB; James Titcomb, Sr., OT/DT; Andrew Gregoire, Sr., OT/DT; Cody Mooney, Jr., QB/LB; Jimmy Chaisson, Sr., WR/K; Dan Webb, Sr., TE/DB. South Portland: Logan Gaddar, Sr., WR/DB; Dan Medici, Sr., WR/DB; Max Porter, Sr., FB/LB; Zac Compton, Sr., TE/LB; Jordan Muller, Sr., QB/DB; Joey DiBiase, Sr., TB/LB; Michael Salvatore, Sr., QB/DB; Ryan Ely, Jr., C/DT; Cody Munson, Jr., OT/DT; Liam Rottkov, Jr., OT/DT.
Analysis: Sanford, buoyed by a strong 2-0 start at home, is embarking on a tough, three game road swing that could make or break its season. South Portland, suprise winners over Thornton last week, is tough enough, but then the Redskins will have to face the Cheverus juggernaut on its own turf, before wrapping up at Gorham. What shape they finally return to Cobb Stadium in could depend on how well they handle South Portland.
Biddeford at Scarborough
The Game: Biddeford (0-2) at Scarborough (1-1)
When: Friday, 7 p.m.
Last Week: Biddeford lost to Kennebunk 28-14; Scarborough lost to Sanford 23-12.
Key Players: Scarborough: Scott Thibeault, Sr., RB/LB; Kellen Smith, Sr., RB/LB; Conor McCann, Sr., WR/DB; Logan Mars, sr., OG/DT; David Conceison, Sr., TE/LB; Jesse Bell, Sr., OT/DT; Kolbey Adams, Sr., TE/DE; Dillon Russo, Jr., QB/DB. Analysis: Biddeford is off to a 0-2 start after losses to Massabesic and Kennebunk. Scarborough will be a difficult game for the Tigers as the Red Storm have beaten Windham 21-6 this season and lost to a very good and surprising Sanford team. It doesn’t get any easier for Biddeford which has to face Scarborough in Red Storm territory.
Deering at Kennebunk
The Game: Deering (2-0) at Kennebunk (0-2)
When: Friday, 7 p.m.
Last Week: Deering beat 28-20, Kennebunk beat Biddeford 28-14.

Analysis: Last week Kennebunk rolled through Biddeford for its first win of the season thanks to quarterback Nick Emmons, who passed for three touchdowns and 163 yards. The competition gets more difficult this week as Deering comes to town. The perennial football power is 2-0 and will be difficult to slow down. Deering has scored 68 points in its first two games.

Analysis: Thornton Academy lost a heartbreaker to South Portland last week, 20-16, on a touchdown pass in the final minutes of the game. Thornton couldn’t punch it into the endzone although they were in the red zone several times. Look for a frustrated Thornton team to take it on a winless Windham team on Saturday. One caveat about Windham. Although the Eagles are 0-2, their two losses have come to Scarborough and Deering, two of the better teams in the SMAA.
Noble at Massabesic

Analysis: Massabesic went winless a year ago, but the past is the past. The Mustangs have bolted to a 2-0 start and last week beat Bonny Eagle bheind the play of Jake Desrochers. he scored all five of the Mustangs’ touchdowns as they rallied for the win. Noble, on the other hand, has started roughly giving up 80 points while only scoring 20 in its losses to Deering and Portland. Massabesic should keep the winning train rolling on Friday night.
Wells at
Gray-New Gloucester

Wells: aul McDonough, Sr., QB/DB; Louis DiTomasso, Sr., RB/LB; Andrew Staples, Sr., G/DT; Eliott Paquette, Sr., C/LB; Michael Roberts, Sr., OT/DT; Corey Dennison, Sr., G/DE; Connor Mullins, Sr., OT/DT; Doug McLean, Sr., HB; Zach Deshaies, Sr., HB; Josh Ingalls, Sr., TE/DE; Kevin Woods, Sr., WR.
Analysis: Wells should improve to 2-0 as it is one of the strongest teams in Class B, if not the strongest. It has already beaten a tough Cape Elizabeth team and dominated Westbrook. Gray-New Gloucester has lost both of its games to Falmouth and Fryeburg by a combined score of 97-6. It won’t get any easier against Wells. It could get worse.
Old Orchard Beach
at Dirigo
The Game: Old Orchard Beach (0-2) at Dirigo (1-1)
When: Friday, 7 p.m.
Last Week: Old Orchard Beach lost to Lisbon 34-10. Dirigo beat Winthrop 36-30.
Key Players: Kyle Christiansen, Sr., OG/NG; Jason Regis, Sr., FB/LB; Austin Creswell, Sr., C/DT; Jeremy Legere, Sr., QB. Dirigo: Bryan Blackman, wing.
Analysis: Old Orchard Beach has struggled to put points on the board early this season only scoring 10 points in its first two games. Those two games, however, were against two of Class C’s top teams in Lisbon and Yarmouth. Dirigo lost a heartbreaker in its first game of the year, 21-20, to Freeport and then beat Winthrop 36-30. This will be a tough game for OOB to win.
