The Westbrook Seals Swim Club has announced the start of its 2011-2012 swim year.

Registration begins this week at the Westbrook Community Center’s Davan Pool. The club is open to swimmers from ages 5 to 19 with various workout options available based on level of experience.

Trinity ‘Rally Day’

On Sunday, Sept. 18, at 9:30 a.m., Trinity Lutheran Church will hold its open house “Rally Day” to mark the beginning of the Christian education season for the young children and teens in the area.

“Please consider joining in the fun as the children will march from Trinity Lutheran Church to the park across the street,” Brenda Orach, social ministry chairwoman, said. “There will be a chance to meet other kids, share in a story, skit and a scavenger hunt and also share in fellowship and a light snack.”

On the following Sundays, classes will be held at Trinity Lutheran church at 612 Main St., across from Mr. Bagel and Subway. Classes are held in the education building at the rear of the church. Children ages 4 through teens are welcome.For more information, call 854-5653.

Woman’s club opening season

Westbrook Woman’s Club will meet on Tuesday, Sept. 20, at Westbrook-Warren Congregational Church, 810 Main St. A potluck luncheon will be served at noon followed by a business meeting and then by individual committee meetings.

Seniors to meet

Westbrook Senior Citizens will meet at 12:30 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 19, at Westbrook Community Center on Bridge Street. Louis Philippe will entertain.

The seniors are planning three trips. The group will travel to Indian Head in Lincoln, N.H., on Sunday, Nov. 27; dinner and show at the Hu Ke Lau in Chicopee, Mass., on Wednesday, Dec. 7; and to see the Rockettes, a New York dance company, at the Wang Theater in Massachusetts on Tuesday, Dec. 20.

Senior cafe?

Those wishing to dine this month at the Senior Dining Community Cafe? meal in Westbrook should make reservations by Friday, Sept. 23, by calling 878-3285.

A ham dinner will be served at noon on Tuesday, Sept. 27, at Westbrook Community Center, 426 Bridge St. The menu includes macaroni and cheese, vegetable, roll and dessert. The meal is sponsored by Southern Maine Agency on Aging. Suggested donation $5 for those age 60 and up; under 60, $7.
