WESTBROOK – When the Westbrook boys soccer team took the field against South Portland on Tuesday evening, one person was conspicuously missing from the sidelines – Tim Gillis, the head coach.
On Wednesday morning, Westbrook Athletic Director Todd Sampson referred questions about Gillis’ absence from the game to Superintendent Marc Gousse. Gousse declined to comment, saying the issue was a personnel matter.
Gousse did say that Gillis, who is also an English teacher at Westbrook High School, was still an employee of the school department and he was still the coach of the team. When asked if Gillis would coach the team’s next game, Gousse once again declined to comment. Gousse also declined to comment when asked if Gillis had been suspended.
Attempts to reach Gillis for comment for this story were unsuccessful.
