Coach: Jeanne Zarrilli
Last year’s record: 11-4, lost to Greely in the Class A quarterfinals
Key returning players: Kali St. Germain, Kiersten Turner
Key games this season: Scarborough, South Portland and Cheverus
Season outlook: The long record winning streak is well in the rear-view mirror for the Rams, but Gorham is still a force to be reckoned with in Class A West. With last year’s disappointing playoff loss still on their minds, the Rams will look to get off to a quick start and try and climb back to the elite ranks of Class A. Gorham got the season off to a solid start with an 8-1 win over Westbrook on Sept. 2.

Coach: Tim King
Last year’s record: 9-3-2, lost to Portland 2-1 in the regional finals
Key returning players: Last year’s leading scorer, junior Connor Reagan, is back with the team once more and looking to light up the West. Aside from Reagan, senior midfielder Kevin Lubelczyk, senior striker Drew Hopkins and senior first team all-conference goalie Carter Bowers should all make big contributions.
Key games this season: “To be honest with you, I think the league has six or seven teams that are going to be fighting for that top spot,” King said. “And I don’t think you can really pick one specific team that’s the obvious No. 1 right now. Windham and Scarborough will be a couple of early games that are pretty key. Westbrook will be a tough opener for us as well.”
Season outlook: “I think we will be a strong team and I think we will be in contention with some of the other top six teams or seven teams in the league,” King said. “It’s very wide-open, but I expect we will be bone of those teams that is in there fighting for the top.”

Coach: Jason Tanguay
Last year’s record: 11-1, third at regionals, fourth at the state meet.
Key returning athletes: The Rams are built around the capabilities of seniors Cortlandt Dunn and Joe DeRoy and Connor Dunn and Evan Peoples. Sophomores Jeremy Collett, Thomas Bradshaw and Travis Grant round out the team.
Key meets this season: “The last regular season meet against Scarborough, Westbrook, Windham and Bonny Eagle is important,” Tanguay said.
Season outlook: “Our team graduated the top four runners, so we will be looking for many of our underclassmen to step it up this season,” Tanguay said. “The team goal I have for our group is to qualify for the state meet. This will be a challenge, but with some hard work this season, it is possible.”
Girls cross country
Coach: Kurt Schwanda
Last year’s record: 8-5, 7th at regional meet, 11th at states
Key returning athletes: The Rams need to a good season out of Leanna Dalfonso, Katie Flanders and Jackson Marshall.
Key meets this season: “The regular season record doesn’t affect the postseason in cross country, so no meet is critical in that sense,” Schwanda said. “But our biggest regular season meet will be our last regular season meet of the year at Smiling Hill Farm against Bonny Eagle, Scarborough, Westbrook and Windham.”
Season outlook: “We have a small team without a lot of depth at this point,” Schwanda said. “Our goal for the season is to run well enough at the regional meet to qualify for the state meet.”

Key games this season: “I truly consider all of the games to be key,” Manson-Rioux said.
Season outlook: “This season will be a continuation of our efforts to rebuild the program,” Manson-Rioux said. “With a strong senior class and returning goalie, we are looking to make a playoff appearance.”

Coach: Dave Kilborn
Last year’s record: 0-8
Key returning players: As the Rams battle back from the toughest season in recent memory, they can rely on some strong veterans who are hungry for the team’s first win in over a year. Seniors include OL/DL Dylan Whitaker, OL/DL Dom Deluca, DE/FB Nick Kilborn, RB/DB Brad Turnbaugh, RB/DB Joe Jackson, OL/DL Emmanuel Mutombo, center Jamie Crawford, linebacker Mason Crocker and RB/DB Nick Chabot. Junior quarterback Damon Wallace and junior RB/DB Matt McKenney round out the group.
Key games this season: The Rams were squarely focused on facing Kennebunk in Week one – the perfect opportunity to end the drought. And the team came through in a big way, getting that elusive first win by a decisive 29-6 score. McKenney led the way for Gorham in the contest, running for 153 yards and one touchdown while Kilborn added 103 yards and two TDs as Gorham rushed for a total of 428 yards.
Season outlook: “We are trying to bounce back from an 0-8 season, and we have found a group of seniors that are ready to help lead us into a successful season,” Kilborn said. “This group of seniors will work hard and make everyone around them better. The key to our season is to stay healthy and play every play as hard as we can. With that level of effort, we will be able to get a couple of wins and fight for a berth in the playoffs.”

Key returning players: The Rams will look to seniors Vicki Parker and Taylor Hansen to anchor the team, as well as juniors Lindsay Chapman and Kaitlyn Seehusen.
Key games this season: Gorham will look to start off strong against Greely and Yarmouth. Beyond those two teams, Curley expects stiff competition from last year’s championship Biddeford team and Scarborough.
Season outlook: “We are looking to have quickness on defense and a strong-hitting offense,” Curley said. “The team chemistry on the floor is key to our success.”

Last year’s record: 6-4, won the Class A team state championship.
Key returning players: Coming off a great run last year, the Rams return players Mike Caron, Nathan Roop, Brian Rex, Ryan Baillargeon, Spencer Lapierre and Andrew Scontras.
Key matches this season: The biggest competition should come from the likes of Bonny Eagle, Thornton Academy and Greely.
Season outlook: “The juniors and seniors on this year’s team are going to have to step up and fill the leadership void left by Mike Arsenault, who was the 2010 individual state champion,” Altham said. “We had a successful season last year, but our players realize they need to work hard to qualify for this year’s state championship.”
