• Christopher Godin is re-opening an old Portland favorite, Granny’s Burritos, in the Public Market House in Monument Square. • A new Southern-style barbecue joint called Sea Smoke BBQ has opened in the Little Dolphin Plaza at 183 Route 1 in Scarborough. Pulled pork, brisket, smoked chicken and smoked sausage can be bought by the pound or in sandwiches, plates and platters. Baby-back or St. Louis-style ribs are also available, as well as sides such as corn bread casserole, baked beans and collard greens. Go early, because they’ve been running out of food.
• The Salt Exchange, 245 Commercial St., Portland, has a new chef and a new $10 fixed price lunch menu. Adam White previously worked at David’s and Restaurant Oolong in Portland, and at the Hurricane Restaurant in Kennebunkport and Clay Hill Farm in York.
• Portland food blogger Joe Ricchio is raising money for a series of short films that will explore Maine’s food culture outside the city of Portland. Food Coma TV will produce 10-minute episodes in five locations, beginning with Bangor, that will be shown for free online and then later compiled into a longer documentary. So far, the project has 89 backers who have pledged just under $4,200 of the $6,500 goal at kickstarter.com, a fundraising website. For more information, go to foodcoma.tv.
