Local schools will be opening soon for the 2011-2012 school year. The following are the first days for local school districts:

Scarborough

First student day, grades K-3, 6 and 9: Tuesday, Aug. 30

For all other students: Wednesday, Aug. 31

South Portland

First student day: Wednesday, Aug. 31

First kindergarten day: Thursday, Sept. 8

Cape Elizabeth

First student day, K-12: Tuesday, Sept. 6
