Museum docents offering trip to Spain and Portugal

The Portland Museum of Art Docents are sponsoring “Art Treasures of Barcelona, Bilbao, Madrid & Lisbon,” a colorful and art-filled small group tour Oct. 21-30.

Museum visits include the Guggenheim Museum, Gaudi’s Sagrada Familia, the Prado, Picasso Museum and the Thyssen-Bornemisza Museum, among others.

The cost is $4,335, which includes all accommodations, round-trip air from Portland and Europe, all museum admissions, deluxe group insurance, eight breakfasts, five lunches, four dinners and a $50 donation to the Portland Museum of Art Docents.

Deals reflect No. 2 status

Charleston is No. 2 and wants people to come 2 visit.

Charleston was ranked No. 2 last month in Travel and Leisure magazine’s list of the top cities in the United States and Canada.

More than a dozen hotels are offering specials, including a number costing $222. One hotel offers a 22 percent discount. There are also $222 spa packages and two-for-one tickets for tours and attractions.

Nature-photography class

The Friends of Hawaii Volcanoes National Park is offering nature photography lessons with award-winning photographer Jack Jeffrey next Saturday and Sunday.

Jeffrey is scheduled to lead a class “In the Field: Nature Photography” at Hawaii Volcanoes National Park .
