Ridgeway, Wolfe engaged
Kristi and Rob Walker of Gorham and Mark Ridgeway of Topsham have announced the engagement of their daughter, Kaitlin Shari Ridgeway, to Johnny Wolfe, the son of Dan Wolfe of Gorham and Nancy and Steve Lawson of Westbrook. Both are 2009 graduates of Gorham High School. A December wedding is planned.
Pet show
at North Gorham
North Gorham Public Library, corner of North Gorham and Standish Neck roads, is hosting a pet show 10-11:30 a.m. on Thursday, Aug. 4, as part of the library’s summer reading program.
Kids are invited to take their own pets or stuffed animals. Prizes will be awarded. The event will be held outside but will move into the fire station next door in case of rain.

The Gorham Cancer Prayer and Support Group will meet at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 2, at Cressey Road United Methodist Church, 81 Cressey Road

Learn about recycling
A representative from ecomaine will be visiting Gorham Municipal Center, 75 South St., on Monday, Aug. 1 from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. The public is invited to stop by and learn more about recycling and ecomaine.
The municipally owned and operated recycling and waste disposal concern serves 39 communities and has an annual budget of $25 million, according to its website.
Free summer concert
Theodore Treehouse will entertain with indie pop rock in a free concert 6:30-8 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 2, at the gazebo on the lawn of Gorham Municipal Center, 75 South St.
Parking is available along South Street or in the municipal lot. The concert is part of a summer concert series sponsored by Gorham Recreation Department.
Jimmy Fund donations sought
Burger King guests in Gorham can help fight childhood cancers by giving $1 to The Jimmy Fund through the A Chance for Kids® program, going on now through Monday, Sept. 5.
With each contribution, restaurant guests will receive a promotion card guaranteed to be a winner with prizes ranging from all-inclusive resort vacations, airline tickets, theme park admissions and Burger King food.
Burger King in Gorham is at 102 Main St.
Through the A Chance for Kids® program, 552 franchise and company owned Burger King restaurants set a goal to raise $1.1 million for pediatric cancer research and care at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute.
