CUMBERLAND – Jack Bushey pitched two complete games Saturday, leading First Title to 10-0 and 13-1 victories against Cumberland in an American Legion baseball doubleheader.

Both games were called after the fifth inning because of the mercy rule. In his total 10 innings, Bushey allowed five hits, one run and struck out 14 for First Title (14-4) against Cumberland (4-13).

Joey Royer, Ryan Casale and Brandyn Chretien each drove in two runs in the opener.

In the second game, Louis DiStasio had three hits, including a triple and two RBI, and Harry Ridge drove in two runs. 

FAYETTE-STAPLES SWEEPS STAPLES CROSSING: Ryan Leach, Alex Newton and Trevor Fleurent each drove in two runs in the opener, and Nick Kenney had a three-run homer in the second game as Fayette-Staples (16-2) handled Staples Crossing (5-13) twice, winning 15-5 and 19-3 at South Berwick.

Matt Turnage and Jeff Gelinas added three RBI apiece in the second game for Fayette-Staples. Jeff Gelinas scattered four hits in a five-inning game.

ANDREWS POST SWEEPS MOODY’S COLLISION: Caleb Fraser scored the go-ahead run on a single by Kyle Reichert in the seventh inning to lift Andrews Post to a 10-9 victory against Moody’s Collision (6-12) in the opener at Gorham.

Fraser and Reichert finished with three hits apiece for Andrews, which rallied from an early deficit to tie the game with a seven-run fifth inning.

In the second game, Ryan Dixon hit a three-run double during a six-run second inning and Andrews held on for an 11-9 victory.

Damon Wallace had a pair of hits for Moody’s, including a two-run single. 

NOVA SEAFOOD SWEEPS LIBBY-MITCHELL: Sam Balzano allowed one unearned run on one hit, striking out three over five innings to lift Nova Seafood (9-8) to a 3-1 victory against Libby-Mitchell (8-8) in the opener at Portland.

Balzano also hit a two-run single that capped a three-run second inning

Kyle Danielson struck out two in two perfect innings of relief for Nova Seafood, and Matt Bevilacqua added a pair of hits.

Nova Seafood completed the sweep with a 4-0 victory behind a five-hitter from Nick DiBiase, who struck out three and walked two.

John Miranda hit a two-run single during a three-run third inning and Dominic Esposito-Martin added a pair of hits. 

FALMOUTH SPLITS WITH SACO-BIDDEFORD SAVINGS: Matt MacDowell hit a two-run homer in the first inning and added an RBI double in the sixth as Falmouth (7-12) pulled away to a 9-4 victory with a five-run sixth inning in the opener at home.

In the second game, Matt Moody drove in the eventual winning run with a two-run homer in the fifth. Zach Bean struck out six in a seven-hitter to lead Saco-Biddeford Savings to a 5-2 victory. 

MORRILL POST 12, OA-YARMOUTH 2: Brendan Horton went 2 for 2 with a three-run homer and also pitched a five-hitter to lead Morrill Post (11-6) at South Portland.

Adam Helmke added a double and three RBI for Morrill Post.

The teams were scheduled to play a doubleheader, but the one game was forfeited by OA-Yarmouth.

JUNIOR LEGION

FIRST TITLE SWEEPS FALMOUTH: Chandler Todd pitched a no-hitter with six strikeouts as First Title (6-6) earned a 16-1 victory against Falmouth (2-11) at Portland.

Tyler Small hit a two-run double and scored three runs, and Pete Dutton added a two-run single.

In the second game, Andrew Cloutier pitched a one-hitter with seven strikeouts, and Brad Carney had two hits with an RBI and three runs in a 10-0 victory for First Title.

WINDHAM SWEEPS LEWISTON: Shawn Francoeur threw a two-hitter in the opener and Joe Francoeur followed with a one-hitter in the second game as Windham (14-1) swept visiting Lewiston (9-5), winning 15-0 and 23-0 in five-inning games.

In the first game, Shawn Francoeur stuck out six and hit a three-run homer with five RBI. In the second game, Joe Francoeur struck out four and drove in three runs. Jack Herzig totaled six hits and seven RBI in the doubleheader. 

BONNY EAGLE 7, GRAY-NEW GLOUCESTER 6: Brian Morin and Jesse Leavitt scored on passed balls in the seventh inning as Bonny Eagle (2-11) edged Gray-New Gloucester (7-6) at Gray.

Devin Butler had three hits, and Matt Melton added two hits and a pair of RBI for Bonny Eagle. Morin struck out the side in a scoreless seventh inning. 

CAPE ELIZABETH 9, KENNEBUNK 2: Charlie Laprade struck out nine in a six-hitter, and Zach Culver hit a three-run homer and finished with two hits as Cape Elizabeth (10-4) downed visiting Kennebunk (10-2).

Benjamin Lary finished with three hits for Kennebunk.

SEACOAST LAW & TITLE SWEEPS SMITH-TOBEY: Cale Bollig struck out 10 and walked five in a no-hitter, and D.J. Breunig hit a two-run single in the second inning and added a triple in the fifth to lead Seacoast Law & Title to a 6-3 victory against Smith-Tobey in the opener at Westbrook.

In the second game, Kyle Schumacher had four hits, including three doubles, and drove in five runs as Seacoast cruised to a 14-1, five-inning victory.

Aaron Duncanson gave up one run on two hits over four innings and also hit a three-run homer for Seacoast.

GRAY-NEW GLOUCESTER 8, CAPE ELIZABETH 7: Justin McKenna scored on a walk-off single by Jimmy Alt in the seventh inning to lift Gray-New Gloucester (7-8) over Cape Elizabeth (10-5) at Gray.

Aaron Boulos had four hits, including a triple, and scored three runs for Gray-New Gloucester.

NECBL

SANFORD 1, OLD ORCHARD BEACH 0: Tommy Lawrence gave up one hit and three walks while striking out six over six shutout innings, and Tyler Mizenko pitched a scoreless seventh to lift the Mainers (15-12) over the Raging Tide (7-23) at Old Orchard Beach.

Sanford scored in the sixth when Marlon Calbi walked, stole second and scored on a double by Jack Lupo.
