PORTLAND – Andrew Richards struck out seven over six shutout innings as Morrill Post defeated Andrews Post 9-0 to salvage a split of an American Legion baseball doubleheader Saturday.

Caleb Fraser pitched a three-hitter with no walks and eight strikeouts to lead Andrews to a 4-1 victory in the opener.

Fraser and Travis Godbout each hit RBI doubles for Andrews (9-3), and Ryan Curit had a solo home run in the top of the seventh for Morrill (7-4).

Zach Horton hit a three-run homer in the top of the fifth and finished with three hits and five RBI for Morrill Post in Game 2. 

YORK/WELLS SWEEPS MASSABESIC: Chris Cole got the win in both games as York/Wells (9-4) beat Massabesic (4-8) 8-7 in eight innings and 7-1.

In the opener, Paul McDonough’s two-run single sparked a five-run seventh for York/Wells to force extra innings. Louis DiTomasso had a sacrifice fly in the eighth.

Cole took a perfect game into the seventh in Game 2 before giving up a hit with one out. Sam Leale had a bases-clearing double in a four-run third inning. 

KENNEBUNK, FAYETTE-STAPLES SPLIT: John LaPointe hit a walk-off, two-run homer as Kennebunk (7-6) posted a 10-9 victory over visiting Fayette-Staples (12-2) in the opener, and Samuel Canales had five RBI as Fayette-Staples won the second game, 11-4.

In Game 1, Rusty French and Colby Donovan each had two RBI in a seven-run sixth for Kennebunk. 

FIRST TITLE SWEEPS NOVA SEAFOOD: Louis DiStasio and Nic Lops each drove in three runs, and First Title (6-4) scored 10 runs in the bottom of the second inning and held on for a 12-8 win over Nova Seafood (4-7) in the opener at Cheverus High in Portland.

In Game 2, DiStasio pitched a six-hitter and struck out seven to lead First Title to a 5-0 win.

Nick Melville hit an RBI single in the first inning and added a three-run double in the third.

BONANZA SWEEPS STAPLES CROSSING: Jordan Dorr knocked in the winning run in each game as Bonanza (7-7) edged Staples Crossing (4-10) twice, winning 8-7 and 11-10 at South Berwick.

In the opener, Dorr hit a sacrifice fly in the top of the seventh before Luke Edward hit a two-run double in the bottom of the inning for Staples Crossing.

In the second game, Dorr doubled home Aaron Rivard in the top of the seventh to give Bonanza an 11-5 lead. 

SACO-BIDDEFORD SAVINGS/BIDDEFORD SAVINGS SWEEPS NOBLE: Patrick Wilson pitched a two-hitter and struck out eight and Bobby Cote had three hits and scored twice to lead Saco-Biddeford Savings/Biddeford Savings (11-3) to a 5-1 win over Noble (1-12) in Game 1 at Biddeford.

In the second game, Cote had four hits and three RBI as Saco-Biddeford cruised to a 12-2 win.

FAYETTE-STAPLES SWEEPS ALL-SPORTS PRINTING: Cam Jackman had 10 RBI as Fayette-Staples (6-6) took two from All-Sports Printing (1-9), winning 10-3 and 14-7 at Saco. 

WINDHAM MERCHANTS 9, SMITH-TOBEY 1: Shawn Francoeur allowed one run in six innings as the Merchants (9-1) beat visiting Smith-Tobey (6-3). 

OA-YARMOUTH 11, FALMOUTH 1: Mike Smith pitched a five-hitter and struck out eight, and Cal Cooper hit a two-run triple during a four-run first inning as OA-Yarmouth (8-4) won at Falmouth (1-8). 

KENNEBUNK SWEEPS FREEPORT: Brandon Guevin and Logan Bement pitched complete game games to lead Kennebunk (7-1) to 8-4 and 4-2 wins at Freeport (5-6). 

CUMBERLAND SWEEPS SOUTH PORTLAND: Joe Saffian hit a walk-off RBI single in the eighth inning to lift Cumberland (3-6) to a 6-5 win over South Portland (1-8) in the opener at Cumberland. Cumberland won the second game 7-2 on a five-hitter by Liam Pakulski. Corey Brink had two hits. 

GRAY-NEW GLOUCESTER SWEEPS LEBANON: Brandon Hubbard pitched a two-hitter in a 6-0 win in the opener and visiting Gray-NG rapped out 19 hits to win the second game, 16-5.

OLD ORCHARD BEACH 9, NEWPORT 3: Tim Quinn and Stephen Wadsworth each drove in two runs to help the Raging Tide (6-17) topple the Gulls (9-9) at Old Orchard Beach. 

NORTH SHORE 8, SANFORD 7: Eric Williams hit a two-run single in the top of the ninth to give the Navigators (13-10) a win over the Mainers (11-10) at Sanford.
