I have closely followed the process leading up to June’s referendum to move Falmouth’s library to a renovated Lunt school as part of the larger opportunity that includes a recreation center, Community Programs and a town green “connecting” both ends of the campus.
Like a lot of my friends I am cautious and fiscally conservative. Based on asking lots of questions, I have become a strong believer in the need for more space for our library and the necessity to move from its current location.
I am equally enthusiastic about the idea of a town campus, and all that means for our community. However, not until the project was paired back and floating a bond for this opportunity was completely removed from the discussion did it have my strong support and vote.
To be able to get all of this done on a revenue-neutral basis is remarkable.
