Patrick Ordway of Waynflete and Maria Varano of Kennebunk drew the top seeds in Region 5 of the Maine Principals’ Association tennis singles qualifying tournament.
Seventeen boys and 17 girls will advance from a Region 5 field of 72 and 52, respectively, to the singles championships to be played at Bates College on May 27, 28 and 30.
Qualifying play begins Saturday at 9 a.m., with the boys headquartered at South Portland High and the girls at Deering High.
