Cynthia Dill has won the race for State Senate District 7 in a decisive victory over South Portland Republican Louie Maietta.

Dill, a Democrat now representing Cape Elizabeth in the state House of Representatives, beat Maietta 2,840-1,271 in South Portland, 1,837-686 in Cape Elizabeth, and 451-301 in the section of Scarborough in the district.

The seat was vacated by South Portland Democrat Larry Bliss, who left to take a position out of state.
