Blaisdell leads Red Riots to win over Cheverus
Jon Blaisdell had two goals and two assists as the Scarborough boys’ lacrosse team (2-0) earned a 4-1 win over Cheverus (1-2) on Saturday. Tim Smith and John Wheeler also scored for the Red Storm. Warren Murray scored for Cheverus.
• Alex Benson had four goals and two assists, and Derrick Payne finished with three goals and one assist for Westbrook (1-1) in a 10-6 victory over visiting Bonny Eagle (0-3). Austin Watts helped with two goals and two assists, and Kevin L’Heureux finished with 21 saves. Shawn Walsh and Ryan Cannell each had three goals for Bonny Eagle.
• Carleton Allen scored seven goals, and Zach Poulin collected three goals and six assists as Deering (3-0) rolled to an 18-5 win over South Portland (1-2) at Portland. Noah Whittenburg, Matt Flaherty and Cody Marcroft added two goals apiece. Brian Cleary finished with four goals for South Portland.
• Elliot Chicoine scored four goals to lead Lewiston to a 7-3 win over Mt. Ararat at Lewiston.
Casey Becker scored twice for Mt. Ararat.
HOCKEY
QMJHL: Stanislav Galiev, Kevin Gagne and Jonathan Huberdeau each scored a power-play goal during a three-minute stretch midway through the second period at St. John, New Brunswick, to lead the St. John Sea Dogs to a 4-1 win over the Lewiston Maineiacs and a 2-0 lead in their best-of-seven semifinal series.
PREP SCHOOLS
GIRLS’ LACROSSE: Anna Wright, Jacqui Zannos and Lindsay Brattan scored two goals apiece and Kaitlyn Wurzer made eight saves to lead Berwick Academy (4-2) to an 8-4 win over the Tilton School (4-3) at Tilton, N.H.
RUGBY
PORTLAND U-19 46, COLLEGE B-SIDE 0: Nate Porter and Parker Doyon each had two tries, and Chase Rochon made three conversions as Portland U-19 beat College B-Side 46-0 in the Maine College Cup at Cumberland.
Jack McDonald, Max McDonald, Max Heller and John Toohey each finished with one try.

MLS: Rajko Lekic broke a tie in the 83rd minute with his first MLS goal in the New England Revolution’s 3-2 comeback victory over Sporting Kansas City in Foxborough, Mass.
The Revolution (2-2-3) played with a man advantage over the final 14 minutes after Aurelian Collin was red-carded.
• Mariano Trujillo knocked home a rebound in the 85th minute to seal Chivas USA’s first victory of the season, a 2-1 win over the San Jose Earthquakes in Santa Clara, Calif.
• Emilio Renteria scored on a header in the 49th minute to help the Columbus Crew tie Toronto FC 1-1 in Toronto.
• George John and Eric Avila scored in the second half to help FC Dallas rally for a 2-1 victory over the host Vancouver Whitecaps.
ENGLISH PREMIER LEAGUE: American keeper Tim Howard’s best efforts couldn’t prevent Manchester United from earning a 1-0 win at home against Everton, edging close to a record 19th English title.
LA LIGA: Lionel Messi became the first player in Spain to score 50 goals in a club season, helping Barcelona rebound from its loss to Real Madrid in the Copa del Rey final with a 2-0 victory over Osasuna.
TENNIS
BARCELONA OPEN: Rafael Nadal beat Ivan Dodig 6-3, 6-2, and David Ferrer ousted Nicolas Almagro 6-3, 6-4, as the two Spainiards advanced to a showdown in the finals for the second straight week.
PORSCHE GRAND PRIX: Top-ranked Caroline Wozniacki beat Agnieszka Radwanska 7-5, 6-3 to advance to the final in Stuttgart, Germany.

LEXINGTON STAKES: Derby Kitten roared to victory in the $200,000 Lexington Stakes, surging past the leaders deep in the stretch to romp in the rain at Keeneland.
