STANDISH – Tyler Laverriere pitched a no-hitter with no walks and 10 strikeouts as St. Joseph’s beat Norwich 14-0 in a baseball game shortened to five innings because of rain Saturday.
Laverriere, a sophomore from Biddeford, needed just 50 pitches to get through five innings. Only two Norwich runners reached base, on errors in the first and fifth innings.
Every starter had at least one hit for the Monks (24-11). Ian Lee went 3 for 3 with two doubles, Dan Brown drove in three runs, and Alex Markakis, Alex Lorenc and Cody Hadley each had two RBI. Hadley’s triple with two men aboard highlighted an eight-run fourth.
Norwich dropped to 0-24.
BOWDOIN 3, COLBY 0: Oliver Van Zant recorded 10 strikeouts and allowed just two hits and one walk through six innings as the Polar Bears (19-7, 7-1 NESCAC East) shut out the White Mules (10-17, 0-8) at Waterville.
Ian Edwards completed the three-hitter for Bowdoin, striking out the side in the seventh.
Bowdoin scored in the fifth on a sacrifice fly by Adam Marquit, then added two runs in the seventh on RBI singles by Matt Ruane and Brendan Garner.
Dom Morrill went the distance for Colby, surrendering six hits.
BATES 6, TRINITY 4: Ryan Sonberg scored the go-ahead run on a squeeze bunt by Chris Burke as the Bobcats (11-13, 2-6 NESCAC East) scored three runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to rally past the Bantams (14-14, 4-4) in a at Lewiston.
Burke finished with three hits, two runs scored and an RBI. Michael Spinosa threw 32/3 scoreless innings of relief to earn the win, and Mike Antonellis picked up a save with a scoreless seventh.
SOFTBALL
BATES 7, BOWDOIN 4: Leah Maciejewski hit a two-run homer and finished with three hits, three RBI and two runs scored to lead the Bobcats (8-10, 2-6 NESCAC East) over the Polar Bears (18-15, 7-4) at Brunswick.
Courtney Talcott and Alayna Garbarino each added two hits and an RBI for Bates.
The Polar Bears were paced by Gen Barlow, who hit a solo homer and scored two runs.
WOMEN’S LACROSSE
BOWDOIN 12, WILLIAMS 5: Katie Stewart scored five goals to pace the Polar Bears (11-2, 6-2 NESCAC) past the Ephs (8-7, 3-5) at Brunswick.
Bowdoin erased an early 2-1 deficit with a 5-0 run that started with a goal by McKenna Teague.
Teague and Jordan Smith each scored a pair of goals for the Polar Bears, who committed a season-low nine turnovers.
COLBY 6, CONNECTICUT COLLEGE 4: Sarah Warnke made 14 saves as the White Mules (11-2, 6-2 NESCAC) defeated the Camels (5-9, 0-8) at Waterville.
Colby took an early lead as Kate Pistel and Tess Petesch scored in the first five minutes. The Mules led 3-1 at halftime, and Anne Geraghty scored 20 seconds into the second half to give the Mules a three-goal cushion.
Hilary Barr and Casey Thomas scored in the final 15 minutes to keep Colby in front.
TRINITY 14, BATES 7: Rachel Romanowsky collected two goals and three assists in the second half as the third-ranked Bantams (13-0, 8-0 NESCAC) broke away from a 7-7 halftime tie to beat the Bobcats (7-6, 3-5) at Hartford, Conn.
Joan O’Neill scored four goals and assisted on two others for the Bobcats.
NORWICH 24, ST. JOSEPH’S 5: Danielle Del Dotto scored four times as the Cadets (7-2, 7-0 GNAC) jumped out to a 12-2 lead and beat the Monks (5-7, 2-6 GNAC) at Northfield, Vt.
Del Dotto finished with five goals, Kacey Abbriano had four goals and six assists, and Grace Fitzpatrick of Falmouth added four goals and one assist.
Emily Wight and Alyssa Marchant paced St. Joseph’s with two goals each.
MEN’S LACROSSE
BOWDOIN 8, WILLIAMS 7: Nathan Fritts scored on an assist from Keegan Mehlhorn to break a 7-7 tie with 7:59 left in regulation as the Polar Bears (6-6, 3-5 NESCAC) edged the Ephs (2-10, 1-7) at Williamstown, Mass.
Mehlhorn also scored three goals, and Fritts and Billy Bergner each had two goals and an assist. Bowdoin keeper Jake McCampbell made 11 saves.
TRINITY 6, BATES 5: Rob Nogueroas scored 45 seconds into the second overtime to lift the Bantams (10-2, 6-2 NESCAC) over the Bobcats (4-8, 1-7) at Lewiston.
Will Gilkeson, Kyle Starr, C.J. Schmidt, Reed Brown and Charlie Clark scored for Bates.
KEENE STATE 16, SOUTHERN MAINE 6: Griffin Meehan and Taylor Jette combined for 10 goals and four assists to lead the Owls (10-2, 5-0 Little East) past the Huskies (4-9, 2-3) at Fitzpatrick Stadium.
Southern Maine was paced by Kyle Baker with three goals and an assist.
COLBY 8, CONNECTICUT COLLEGE 7: John Jennings scored with 1:40 left in overtime give the Mules (8-6, 3-5 NESCAC) a win over the Camels (6-8, 2-6) at Hartford, Conn.
Jennings and Ian Deveau each finished with two goals and two assists.
NORWICH 11, ST. JOSEPH’S 7: Arron Canarelli and Ian Thomas scored three goals apiece to lead the Cadets (7-4, 5-2 GNAC) past the Monks (9-7, 4-3) at Standish.
Spencer Hunt had two goals and an assist for the Monks.
