The Portland Sea Dogs Mother’s Day 5K — Maine’s largest 5K road race — will be held May 8 at 9:15 a.m. at Hadlock Field. Entries will be capped at 3,000, and more than 2,100 have already signed up. The entry fee is $19, or $34 for those who sign up for both the Mother’s Day and Father’s Day races. A free kids’ run starts at 8:30 a.m. All entrants in the 5K receive a coupon that can be redeemed for a ticket to any Sea Dogs game in 2011, and the overall men’s and women’s winners will be invited to throw out the first pitch at a Sea Dogs game. Volunteers are also needed to help with registration and traffic control. To register for the race, sign up as a volunteer or for more information, visit www.mainetrackclub.com.
