CARRABASSETT VALLEY — Maine State Police say no charges are expected in the collapse of a deck at a Carrabassett Valley bar that injured five people.

The State Fire Marshal’s Office says the weekend collapse of the deck attached to the fire escape at the bar The Rack was likely caused by too many people on it at the same time.

The deck fell about 15 feet early Sunday. State Police say up to 10 people were on it at the time.

Carrabassett Valley Police Chief Scott Nichols says some of those injured suffered broken bones and lacerations.

The Rack co-owner Chase McKendry says the fire escape was built to code, updated and inspected.

The Fire Marshal’s Office will be involved in the approval process if the business decides to rebuild it.
