Peggle: ‘Pinball meets Snood
“My favorite mobile game is Peggle by PopCap Games. It’s an instantly addictive puzzle game available on multiple gaming platforms. On Apple’s iOS with its touch based controls the game is easy to pick up and provides enough replay value thru different game modes to continue to challenge even the most well versed players. Think of the game as pinball meets Snood with a splash of Plinko from The Price is Right.” – Twitter user @Sorepheet
PEGGLE started out as a regular puzzle game for the computer, but it’s found more success on mobile and online devices. The object of game is to clear the 25 orange pegs amid the 75 blue ones. Each round of play begins with 10 balls that the player must aim and shoot down into the playing area to clear pegs. There is a ball catcher that moves back and forth at the bottom of the screen, and if a ball lands in it during play, that ball can be reused. Peggle is available for $2.99 on all Apple products. Android plans to release its own Peggle app sometime this year.

CUT THE ROPE, developed by ZeptoLab, is a fun puzzle game using physics and problem solving. The point of the game is to bring a piece of candy to a waiting monster. The candy is usually held by one or more ropes, and the player has to figure out how to cut the ropes just right to swing to the hungry monster. It sounds simple, but it does get very complex in the higher levels. Several new levels have been introduced over the past year, and Android is working on a version. For now it’s only available for 99 cents on the Apple platforms for iPhone, iPad and iPod touch.
