GORHAM – The University of Southern Maine baseball team scored six runs in the sixth inning Thursday and held on to beat Colby 11-10 at USM Baseball Stadium.

The Huskies (12-10) went ahead 11-4 with the sixth-inning rally. Josh Mackey hit a two-run single, Tucker White added a two-run triple and Forrest Chadwick singled in White and scored on a single by David Ricker. Ricker, Mackey and Mike Eaton had three hits.

The Mules (10-11) scored four in the seventh, including RBI singles by John Lerner and Nickolas Atsalis.

ST. JOSEPH’S SWEEPS ALBERTUS MAGNUS: Chris Campbell stole home in the eighth inning to give the Monks (17-9) a 5-4 victory over the Falcons (5-16) in the opener at West Haven, Conn.

St. Joseph’s won the second game 7-3, taking the lead for good with four runs in the fifth on a two-run single by Campbell, an RBI double by Todd Keneborus and an RBI single by Mike Pratt.

Alex Lorenc had a solo home run in the fourth, Keneborus had a sacrifice fly in the sixth and Alex Markakis singled in the final run in the seventh.

SOUTHERN MAINE CC 6, CENTRAL MAINE CC 5: Donnie Cray drove in four runs, including the winner with a single in the seventh, as the Seawolves (10-13) won at South Portland.

Cray had a two-run homer in the third and drove in a run in the fifth with a sacrifice fly.

SOFTBALL

BOWDOIN SWEEPS USM: Melissa DellaTorrre struck out 13 in the second game as Bowdoin (15-13) completed a sweep of Southern Maine (2-24) with a 5-2 victory at Gorham.

Jen Barlow hit a two-run homer as the Polar Bears won the opener, 7-1. Sarah DeRoche hit an RBI single in the sixth inning for USM to break up the shutout bid by Tricia Thibodeau, who pitched a six-hitter with no walks and two strikeouts.

Hillary Smyth had a three-run double in the first inning of Game 2. Katie Davis knocked in both runs for the Huskies with a sixth-inning double.

ST. JOSEPH’S SWEEPS MOUNT IDA: Rae-Marie Copan pitched a three-hitter with no walks and seven strikeouts as St. Joseph’s (20-6, 11-3 GNAC) finished a sweep against Mount Ida (8-20, 4-10) with a 3-1 victory at Newton, Mass.

Connie Grovo scored the go-ahead run on the single by Jill Howard in the fifth, then homered in the seventh.

The Monks won the opener 6-4 as Madylan Kluna struck out 11.

CURRY SWEEPS UNE: Curry (14-18, 9-9 TCCC) scored three times in the seventh for a 5-2 win in Game 2 against the Nor’easters (22-8, 15-3) after a 5-3 first-game win at Biddeford.

Ashley Gott and Erin Grover had RBI hits for UNE in the opener.

BOWDOIN 13, ENDICOTT 12: Owen Smith’s third goal late in the third quarter gave the Polar Bears (4-6) a victory over the Gulls (10-3) at Brunswick.

MEN’S BASKETBALL

UMAINE: The Black Bears got letters of intent from three players: Killian Cato, a 6-foot-7 forward from Espoo, Finland; Noam Laish, a 6-1 guard from Timrat, Israel; and Xavier Pollard, a 6-3 guard from New York.
