KENNEBUNK

THE SEA ROAD SCHOOL Grade 5 Math Team placed first among 33 competing schools at the Southern Maine Elementary Math League meet in Portland recently. Sea Road School student Lily Verna placed first with a perfect score.

Her Sea Road School peers Jackie Allaire-MacDonald and Judah Phipps-Costin tied for second, with Daniel Behrens placing fourth and Brennan Schatzabel earning a fifth- place score among competitors.

WELLS

NEARLY 300 PARENTS, students and community members attended Wells High School’s “Annual Festival of the Arts” event that featured various school bands and choruses in the Wells-Ogunquit School District and hundreds of pieces of student art representing the works of grade 5-12 students. The event also offered a sneak previews of upcoming spring musicals to be performed at Wells Junior High and Wells High School.

LINCOLN ACADEMY senior Richard Gerrity of Damariscotta was selected to represent Maine as a National Youth Delegate to the 2011 Washington Youth Summit on the Environment at George Mason University at Fairfax, Va. Gerrity is one of just 250 students from across the country selected to attend the convention June 26 to July 1.

 

THE DAMARISCOTTA MILLS Fish Ladder Restoration Fund has received a $4,000 anonymous donation. Those funds were awarded in honor of Frank Waltz, Sr., an alewife harvester and a longtime supporter of area alewife restoration efforts. Waltz formerly worked as the onsite manager of the Damariscotta Mills Hydroelectric Project. SANFORD

THE SANFORD-SPRINGVALE YMCA has been awarded an $18,500 one-year grant from the United Way of York County to support its work with pre-school programs, the Teen Leaders Club and Trafton Senior Center programs. The Sanford-Springvale YMCA serves the physical, emotional, social and spiritual needs of families throughout York County, including child care and summer camp opportunities, fitness programs, youth and family development programs, corporate wellness programs and senior programs. THE REGIONAL CENTER of Technology has named students Emily Brassley and Doug Holbrook as Students of the Month for excellence in academics. Brassley and Holbrook received monetary awards from TD Bank.
