GORHAM – The four-day schedule for Gorham Founders Festival next month is shaping up, organizers say.

The festival observes the 275th anniversary of the town. Settlers began arriving in Gorham, then a land grant known as Narragansett No. 7, in May1736.

“We’ve made great progress with the founders festival,” Town Councilor Phil Gagnon, event chairman, said last week.

Festivities kick off in the evening on Friday, May 27, with amusement rides and live music, and continue through Memorial Day, Monday, May 30. Amusement rides will be attractions on all four days. Events will be at the Narragansett School on Main Street.

Saturday features opening ceremonies at 9 a.m., historical tours of the town, music, a chicken dinner sponsored by firefighters and fireworks. Highlights on Sunday include the Gorham Taste Walk and Monday, a parade and Memorial Day activities.

Entertainment coordinator Dawn Caldwell has lined up several music groups and a magician.

“We’re excited about what we’ve put together,” Gagnon said.

There are openings for more shows and sponsors for events. Caldwell can be contacted by email through www.gorhamfoundersfestival.com/event_contact.html. A schedule of events and more information is also available at the website.
