Construction update

According to Resident Project Engineer, Craig Hurd, we’re in for long delays in coming weeks. Substantial wait times are expected, some as much as 20-30 minutes. The reason? April into May will be the time they will be tearing up the road and replacing it. Seek an alternate route is Hurd’s advice. I will!

Naples Rec camp

I always love receiving this flyer because that means summer is on the horizon. Registration dates are as follows: Full summer and weekly registrations will be held on Saturday, April 9 from 9 a.m.-noon and Monday, April 11 from 4-7 p.m. This year the camp is also being offered in split week sessions. Your child can attend either Tuesday/Thursday or Monday/Wednesday/Friday of a given week. May 7 will be the day to register for those options, from 9 a.m.-noon. All registrations will be held at the Naples Town Hall. Camp runs from July 5-Aug. 19. There is a $50 non-refundable registration fee per child. FMI including pricing and hours of camp, contact Harvey Price Jr. at 693-6364.

Library events

Just the other day I was telling someone that the Library is my favorite indoor place in all of Naples. The other night the girls and I thoroughly enjoyed the Cake Pop class held by Syntha Green of the Children’s Library. The class was educational and delicious. April promises more fun at the Library. What better way to celebrate National Poetry month than at the Second Annual Poetry and Pastry event on Wednesday, April 13 at 7 p.m. Bring your favorite poem to share and the library will share their wonderful space and refreshments with you. A sweet time is sure to be had at the Library this month. Jim Miller, a.k.a. Mr. Candy, will visit twice. On April 12 at 2:30 p.m. he will be teaching teens how to make candy. On Tuesday, April 19, pre-school story time will be extra exciting when Jim makes bunny pops with the kids.

Pajama Story has a spring theme this month. Don’t miss fun times with them on Thursday nights, April 14, 21, and 28 at 6 p.m. Of course, all the kids look forward to the Annual Easter Egg Hunt, this year’s to be held on Saturday, April 23 from 10 a.m. to noon. Naples Lions auction

A Silent Charity Auction to benefit Camp Sunshine will be held at the American Legion in Naples on Saturday, April 16 starting at 5 p.m. The Black Bear and The Naples Dugout are the buffet sponsors for the event so you know there will be some tasty food there from 5-8:30 p.m. In addition, Bray’s Brew Pub and Blacksmith’s Winery will be on hand offering beer and wine tastings! Music and dancing are also planned for the evening. Sounds like an awesome time for a great cause. Tickets are only $15 per person or two for $25 and are available in advance or at the door. Call Tracy at 693-3056 for info or tickets.

Well done

Congratulations to the Lake Region Middle School Band for their recent “gig” playing the National Anthem at a Portland Pirates Game.

Condolences

Our thoughts and prayers go out to the Burnham family, whose patriarch, James Burnham, a longtime resident of Naples, passed away recently.
