A South Portland man has been indicted on a charge of arson in connection with a fire at a childcare center in Westbrook.
Caleb Richard, 34, was indicted by a Cumberland County grand jury today.
Richard worked at Lollipop Lane Educare on Patrick Drive. He started a fire in January by placing an industrial plastic dishwasher rack on the stove, according to Capt. Tom Roth of Westbrook police.
Roth said police did not know Richard’s motive. The fire was contained to the area around the stove.
