Top-ranked Nadal eases past rival Federer to reach title match of Sony Ericsson Open
Rafael Nadal advanced to the final at the Sony Ericsson Open in Key Biscayne, Fla., by beating rival Roger Federer 6-3, 6-2 on Friday.
The No. 1-ranked Nadal won with surprising ease, holding every service game and converting five of six break-point chances.
Federer shanked several shots and committed 31 unforced errors to 10 for Nadal.
Nadal’s opponent Sunday will be No. 2 Novak Djokovic, who advanced with a 6-3, 6-1 win over Mardy Fish.
SOCCER
SUSPENSION: FIFA and UEFA have suspended Bosnia-Herzegovina from world soccer because its federation refuses to replace a three-member presidency with a single leader. Bosnia’s national and club teams, referees and officials are now barred from taking part in international soccer. Bosnia’s federation presidency is shared by a Bosnian, a Croat and a Serb.

QMJHL: Bryce Milson, Michael Chaput and Matthew Bissonnette each had a goal and an assist to help the eighth-seeded Maineiacs eliminate the ninth-seeded Moncton Wildcats 6-1 at Lewiston to advance to the second round of the playoffs.
Also scoring for Lewiston were Alex Zafiris, Stefan Fournier and Kirill Kabanov. Olivier Dame-Malka had two assists.Ggoalie Nicholas Champion had 30 saves.
GOLF
PGA: Rookie Chris Kirk shot a 3-under 69 to take a one-stroke lead over defending champion Anthony Kim and 2008 winner Johnson Wagner after two rounds at the Houston Open in Humble, Texas.
Kirk was 9 under par and played his last few holes just as the wind picked up in the afternoon and made scoring more difficult. Kim shot a 64, the lowest round of the day, and Wagner had a 67.
Padraig Harrington, first-round leader Jimmy Walker and Josh Teater were two shots back at 7 under.
champions tour: Jeff Sluman matched the Fallen Oak record with a 6-under 66 to take a one-stroke lead over Tom Lehman in the Mississippi Gulf Resort Classic in Saucier, Miss.
Nick Price, David Frost and Dan Forsman were two strokes back at 68.
LPGA: Stacy Lewis persevered through more desert heat to shoot a 3-under 69 at the Kraft Nabisco Championship in Rancho Mirage, Calif., opening a three-stroke lead over Yani Tseng, Brittany Lincicome and Jane Park.
EUROPEAN TOUR: Rhys Davies of Wales shot a 1-under 70 and shared the lead with Joost Luiten after the second round of the Trophee Hassan II in Agadir, Morocco.
