Firefighters from Yarmouth and Freeport use foam to neutralize a gas spill around noon on Saturday, March 19, at the Irving station on Mallet Drive. The spill took place when a customer took her dog for a walk while fueling her car and the pump shut-off failed. In addition to firefighters, an EPA representative was summoned and the station was closed for several hours.
A dirt dam was built to prevent the spilled gasoline from escaping the gas station and contaminating nearby soil.
